Giant Day Gecko

The giant day gecko (Phelsuma grandis) is among the largest of the dirunal day gecko lineage. This group is distinctive for its bright green colors and for being diurnal.

Description: 

This species is largely found within tropical and subtropical forest areas in northern Madagascar. In this habitat, the giant day gecko eats insects, as well as other invertebrates, small vertebrates, fruit, pollen and nectar. This gecko moves very slowly, even when capturing prey. However, this species will move fast when startled and is recognized for seamlessly escaping enclosures.
